In a large mixing bowl whisk together flour, salt, and yeast until combined. Add hot water.
Using the back of a wooden spoon, stir ingredients until the flour is incorporated. Dough will be sloppy and not kneadable.
Cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm spot for 2-3 hours until it has doubled in size. If after one hour it doesn't seem to be rising, move to a warmer spot.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees and place your Dutch oven into the oven into the oven. Allow the oven to heat for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle your work surface with a couple Tbsp. of flour and scrape dough out of the bowl.
Using a dough scraper, large knife, or spatula, fold in the sides to form a roundish ball.
Place a piece of parchment paper next to the dough and flip the dough ball over onto the parchment paper. Slide it into the middle. *Don't worry too much about the shape* Using a knife slice an X shape into the top of the dough.
Remove hot Dutch oven. Place parchment paper and dough into the hot Dutch oven and place the lid on.
Bake for 30 minutes, remove lid and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Remove from oven and allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting. Enjoy with butter and jam if desired.
