Mix warm water, sugar and yeast together in the bowl of a stand mixer. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
In a small mixing bowl whisk 1/4 tsp salt, garlic powder, and parmesan cheese. Set aside.
Add 1/2 tsp salt and flour, one cup at a time, until it is combined Mix on high for 5 minutes, cover and let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
Melt the unsalted butter and pour half of it into a large baking sheet.
Place the dough in the center of the pan and spread the dough out flat until it reaches all of the edges.
Evenly spread the other half of the butter onto the dough and sprinkle dough with seasonings.
With a pizza cutter cut the dough in half lengthwise and then turn pan and cut dough into about 12 rows.
Place breadsticks into preheated 170-degree oven for about 7-10 minutes. The breadsticks should rise about 1 inch.. Turn oven up to 350 and bake for 12-13 minutes, or until golden brown.
