How Do You Trim Asparagus?
Trimming the asparagus is one of the most important steps in getting it ready to grill. The bottom part of the spear can be tough and is not meant to be eaten. You may have heard of the bend and snap method, but this is not the best method and wastes a lot of good asparagus. The best way is to cut the asparagus with a sharp knife.
Start by lining up the asparagus on a cutting board with all the ends facing the same way. Then, cut off the bottom of the spear, where it turns from a purplish-white to green. Typically this is about 1″-1 1/2″ up from the bottom.
