How To Store Your Frankenstein Cookies

Because these Halloween cookies are made with Nutter Butter cookies and candy melts, they have quite a long shelf life! You will want to store them in an airtight container. Avoid the fridge and humidity if possible. While the candy melt coating will protect it from most moisture, it can still get soggy. If stored properly, they should last at room temp for about two weeks! Though I doubt you’ll even come close to keeping them from that long!

Frankenstein Nutter Butter Cookies FAQ

Can I use White Chocolate instead of candy melts for this recipe?

If you prefer to use white chocolate instead of candy melts for this recipe, you absolutely can! Be aware that white chocolate is harder to melt, though, so you will need to use a double boiler method and add in coconut oil. White chocolate seizes easily in the microwave so avoid it at all costs.
You’ll need to get some food green food coloring as well as black. Most of the time, you can find black food coloring in stores around Halloween, but if you can’t, you can make your own at home pretty easily.

How do you make the eyes for Frankenstein cookies?

Candy Eyes are very easy to find at most craft stores, Walmart, and some grocery stores. If this is not an option, you can buy them on Amazon here. If you aren’t a fan of candy eyes, you can use white or dark chocolate chips instead! If you use white chocolate chips, use an edible marker to make the pupil. For dark chocolate chips, you’ll want to melt some white chocolate and dot it in the center of the chocolate chip.

How do I pipe my candy melts onto Frankenstein Nutter Butter Cookies?

You will want to use a fine-pointing piping bag for this Halloween cookie recipe! You should be able to find them at craft stores, Walmart, or even grocery stores if you look hard enough! I like to use disposable bags and simply snip the tip off once it is full. The best way to fill your bag is by using a spoon or spatula, scooping some candy melts into your piping bag, and then squeezing until it reaches the top of where you’re going to cut off the end.

Can I make these peanut-free with a different cookie?

You sure can! Any other sandwich cookie will work great. I like Nutter Butters because of their unique shape (and they are yummy, of course!) but, if you need to avoid peanuts due to your child attending a peanut-free school or an allergy, you are free to switch up the cookie base!
