Sloppy joes are something that my kids ask for often but, if Iโ€™m being honest, theyโ€™re just not my favorite. They can be just as messy to make as they are to eat, and somehow always leave my whole kitchen a mess. This easy baked sloppy joe biscuit casserole has by far been the best workaround (itโ€™s even made it onto my list of personal favorites!). I love that it can be made in one dish, is made in the oven, and can be eaten on a plate with a fork rather than on a messy bun! The addition of the cheese and biscuits make this a hearty enough meal to keep you full, and it fills a whole 9X13, making it perfect for feeding the entire family. You canโ€™t go wrong with this sloppy joe casserole with biscuits, especially on a busy weeknight!

This dinner recipe is super simple to make and takes less than 45 minutes! It requires minimal prep work and only a few ingredients. To make this easy baked sloppy joe casserole, start by cooking, seasoning, and draining your ground beef. Next, itโ€™s time to make the sauce that really turns this into a sloppy joe! Into your ground beef, youโ€™re going to add ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix it all together and make sure that the ground beef is easily coated and let it simmer. Next, youโ€™re going to mix in your quartered biscuit dough. Once everything is mixed together, spread this mixture into the bottom of your prepared 9X13 pan. All thatโ€™s left to do is top with cheese and pop it into the oven! With only a few steps, your sloppy joe biscuit bake will be ready to enjoy.

What to Serve/Pair with Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bake

I love to serve this sloppy joe casserole with some veggies and potatoes on the side! Rather than the typical french fries that youโ€™d serve with a sloppy joe, try these easy garlic parmesan smashed potatoes. For your veggie, go with this tasty brown sugar glazed carrots recipe. The combination of the casserole, potatoes, and carrots creates the perfect comfort meal!

Popular Substitutions & Additions

One of the best things about this casserole is how easy it is to customize! You can switch out the ground beef for ground turkey or even ground chicken. You can also add any of your favorite toppings, like diced tomatoes or shredded lettuce. Feel free to substitute your favorite shredded cheese in place of the shredded cheddar cheese.

Storage & Leftovers

Leftover sloppy joe casserole is delicious! Keep your leftover casserole in a sealed container in the fridge. It will last for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave in 30 second increments until warm. For larger portions, reheat in the oven at 350 degrees until warm.
