Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats Ingredients

  • Butter– Make sure that you use real butter not margarine.
  • Vanilla extract– I prefer Dark Vanilla extract but I don’t get to use it much because it will change the color or stuff. But, because you are adding peanut butter you won’t notice any color change.
  • Mini marshmallows– I like to use mini marshmallows because they melt better and faster.
  • Creamy peanut butter– I prefer to use creamy peanut butter but they are still delicious if all you have is crunchy.
  • Rice Krispies– Any brand works, I usually buy the cheapest kind.

How To Make Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Treats

  1. Grease a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl melt 6 tbsp of butter.
  3. Mix in 1 tsp. of vanilla extract and 7 cups of mini marshmallows. Making sure to cover the marshmallow with butter. Alternate between microwaving for 30 seconds and stirring. Be careful not to overcook the marshmallows.
  4. Once the marshmallows are melted add in ¾ cup of peanut butter and mix well.
  5. Add in 6 cups of Rice Krispies making sure they are mixed well.
  6. Spread the Rice Krispie mixture into the greased dish and allow to cool before serving.

How To Change It Up

Peanut Butter Rice Krispies treats are one of my favorite quick treats to make. I love that I don’t even need to turn my oven on to make them. They are the perfect treat to make during the hot summers here in Utah.

Over the years I have tried changing them a little bit. One of my kid’s favorite ways to make them is when I drizzle chocolate over the top. It’s super easy I just melt some chocolate chips and put the melted chocolate in a Zip-loc bag and cut the tip off the bag and drizzle the chocolate over the top. Another fun topping is to cut up peanut butter cups and sprinkle them over the top.
