When I say this recipe is easy, I really mean it! You can have these tasty homemade apple fritter croissants whipped up in no time at all. Youโ€™ll start by mixing the apples and lemon juice. This helps your apples stay fresh and keep from turning brown too quickly. After they have sat for a few minutes, sautรฉ them in a pan with butter until they soften. Think of this like apple pie filling – youโ€™ll want the apples to be super tender. Next, add in the brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon. This is when they start to smell (and look) super tasty! Once the apples are ready, divide the filling into 4 portions and sandwich it into each croissant. Bake them for 10 minutes, then let them sit to cool. Your kitchen is going to smell amazing in the meantime! While theyโ€™re cooling, you can go ahead and mix up your glaze. This is a super simple mixture of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle this over the top, and your easy apple fritter croissants are ready to enjoy!

Popular Substitutions & Additions

If you donโ€™t want to use store-bought croissants or canโ€™t find them at your local grocery store, donโ€™t fret! You can also use puff pastry. Just cook it according to the package directions, then fill with the apple filling.

I love the way that the Honeycrisp apples bake, but you can also use green apples if you want it to be a little more tart.

Storage & Leftovers

You can store any leftover apple fritter croissants (if you have any, this never happens in my house!) in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you want to enjoy them warm, put them in the microwave covered with a wet paper towel for about 30-40 seconds, until warm. This will help keep the croissant from getting tough in the microwave.

FAQs

How will I know that the apples are cooked enough?

Youโ€™ll want the apples to be so tender that you can break them with a fork. Think about it like apple pie filling.

Do I have to use the glaze on top?

Nope, this is totally up to you! I just like the sweetness that it adds, and it really ties everything together.

Will the croissants burn in the oven since theyโ€™re already cooked?

No! They wonโ€™t burn. The temperature and length of time is just enough to warm them up and make them taste fresh!
