I love Crumbl Cookies. I really do. The only problem is that they are pricey with a capital P! Four dollars for one cookie adds up quickly. And when you have an obsession with the soft, melt in your mouth cake-like sugar cookies that are heaven in a bite, well one just won’t due!

This recipe is also perfect for people who don’t have access to a Crumbl Cookies Shop near them. If you’ve never had a Crumbl cookie but have heard all your friends rave about them, then this recipe will fill that void and give you a taste of what you’ve been missing; you’re welcome! So, scroll on if soft, pillowy sugar cookies infused with dutch cocoa covered in homemade chocolate frosting made with semi-sweet chocolate chips and topped with Oreo cookie crumbs is your jam!

What Are Crumble Cookies?

Crumbl Cookies is a franchise of bakeries that specializes in a wide variety of soft, cake-like cookies. They have a large variety of flavors and textures to choose from, but the one that people seem to be most enamored with is their super soft sugar cookies. You can get flavors ranging from waffle, banana bread, fruity pebbles, strawberry shortcake, and of course, the dirt cake cookie, just to name a few. Every week they rotate out 4-5 different flavors to keep you coming back for more!

Where Can I Find Crumbl Cookie Shops

Crumbl Cookies has over 259 stores located all across the United States and continues to expand rapidly. You can use their store locator to see if you have one near you.

What is so special about Crumbl cookies?

They have a unique texture that is very different from your average sugar cookie. The outside has a crisp iced top, and the inside is super moist. They melt in your mouth with a sandy sort of texture, but not an unpleasant one. In fact, it’s quite addicting!  It really is something you have to experience for yourself.

Are Crumbl Cookies Worth It?

YES! Crumbl cookies are so worth it! They are super decadent and taste amazing. I know that they may not be for everyone, but if you’re someone who likes cake-like cookies, then these will blow your mind!

Equipment You’ll Need To Make Your Copycat Crumbl Cookie

As far as equipment goes, everything is pretty standard for this cookie recipe. Pull out a baking sheet, parchment paper, large mixing bowl, hand or stand mixer, and a 2-in cookie scoop for your chocolate cake cookies.

For the chocolate frosting and oreo topping, you will need a few medium-sized bowls, a piping bag, and a piping tip (or a ziplock bag with the corner cut off will work just as well). While this isn’t the simplest of recipes, all the work will be well worth it.

Chocolate Dirt Cookies FAQs

Do I have to use Dutch cocoa powder in the cookies?

Nope, if you prefer to have a plain sugar cookie, you can omit the cocoa powder in this recipe. The cookie will be less chocolate-y and more vanilla flavored but still just as delicious!

Can I use gluten-free Flour?

You can use gluten-free flour, but the texture of your cookies will be different. You will also need to add baking powder to make sure your cookie rises.

How long does it take for the chocolate frosting to set?

It takes about an hour for your chocolate frosting to set. If you’re in a rush, then placing it into the refrigerator will firm up the frosting almost immediately, but make sure you give it at least 30 minutes or so before serving after refrigerating as cold chocolate is not pleasant!

How many cookies should I bake per sheet?

You should bake your cookies in batches of 4-6. If you try to cram too many onto the baking sheet, they won’t spread correctly and will be very thick!
