Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken is such a flavorful and juicy chicken. Made with just a few ingredients you will have a tasty grilled Dijon chicken. Perfect for any a healthy family dinner.
Easy meals that are healthy and have lots of flavor are my favorite. This honey mustard grilled chicken checks all those boxes. It takes less than 5 minutes to make the marinade and tenderize the chicken. Then all you have to do is grill it or throw it in the oven.
This has been one of my go to recipes for busy nights and I love to pair it with Garlic Roasted Potatoes With Bacon or even Instant Pot Corn On The Cob. During the summer time when I have lots of zucchini in my garden I will Grill Zucchini with it. But hands down my favorite side to make with these is Scalloped Potatoes. I typically will only make these when I make this for Sunday dinner.
Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken Ingredients

- Chicken Breasts – I like to use Skinless, boneless chicken breasts. But you can also use thighs and legs.

- Dijon Mustard – This is what makes this marinade so good. It adds so much flavor.
- Mayonnaise – Helps keep the moisture in the chicken and compliments the Dijon mustard.
- Honey – Add just the right amount of sweetness to the marinade.
- Apple Cider Vinegar – Adds a little zing to the chicken.
- Italian Seasoning – Such a flavorful herb blend that add so much flavor to the chicken. If you don’t have Italian seasoning. Make your own by combining equal parts of dried oregano, basil and, thyme.

What Is The Best Chicken To For Grilled Dijon Chicken?
I have tried this garlic Dijon marinade on just about every cut of chicken and it has been amazing on all of them. The different types of chicken do need to be cooked to different temperatures. So I have created a guide that you can reference for proper food safety cooked temperatures.
- Boneless chicken breasts: 160 degrees Fahrenheit
- Bone-in chicken breast halves: 170 degrees Fahrenheit
- Boneless thighs: 170 degrees Fahrenheit
- Bone-in thighs or leg quarters: 170-175 degrees Fahrenheit
Chicken Breast Grilling Tips
If you follow these grilling tips your chicken will come out juicy every time.
- Tenderize the chicken: Place the chicken breast between plastic wrap or parchment paper and give a few good whacks with a rolling pin or meat tenderizer. This will break down any of the tough muscle fibers.
- Clean your grill: There is nothing worse then leaving chunks of chicken on the grill. To avoid this clean the grill grates off. First by heating up the grill, then scrubbing it with steel wool or a grill brush. Then give it a good oiling with a cooking spray designed for the grill. This will make it so your marinade on your chicken isn’t left stuck to your grill.
- Grilling: Grill over medium-high heat and grill each side for 4-5 minutes. One tip I can give you is only flip your chicken once. Continually flipping the chicken will dry out the chicken in the grilling process. Once your chicken breasts have reached 165 degrees remove them from the grill.
- Don’t eat it right away: Put your chicken on a plate and cover it with foil. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. This will allow the juices to absorb back in to the chicken and not on your plate.
Can I Bake Them In The Oven?
Yes, they turn out amazing in the oven. I will bake them at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes for medium sized chicken breasts and 25-30 minutes for larger chicken breast. Then Broil them for 2 minutes to crisp up the outside. If you would like them more crispy like it was grilled. I would bake them on a baking sheet with a cooling rack for the chicken to sit on. As always make sure the chicken reaches 165 degrees before removing from the oven.
