Monte Cristo Sliders are so easy to throw together and taste amazing. They are the perfect appetizer sandwiches, made with ham, turkey, swiss cheese, baked in a rich buttery topping, and dusted with powdered sugar. Just like the classic Monte Cristo Sandwiches, these sliders come out crispy on the outside, and taste delicious served with a side of raspberry jam!

Some of you might be wondering what Monte Cristo sandwiches are? A Monte Cristo is an egg-dipped ham and cheese sandwich that is pan or deep fried to a golden brown, and served with a berry jam. If you have been to Disneyland and had their Famous Blue Bayou’s Monte Cristo, you know how delicious these sandwich’s are. My family love’s them and always asks for them at dinner time. I wanted to make a version that was easy to make, not deep fried, but still had that crispy outside. These sliders are perfect, for parties, game day appetizers, lunch, or even family dinner. If you love sliders as much as our family does, you have to try our Homemade Ham And Cheese Sliders and our Hawaiian Roll Breakfast Sliders.
Ingredients for Monte Cristo Sliders
- Sweet Hawaiian Rolls: I personally like Hawaiian rolls for this recipe, but you can use a savory dinner roll also.
- Sliced Ham: Honey ham has a great flavor, but you can use black forest smoked ham.
- Sliced Turkey: Oven roasted or smoked turkey both taste great in this recipe.
- Swiss Cheese: My family love swiss cheese for these sliders, but Gruyere is another great option.
- Butter: Use Unsalted butter and completely melt.
- Egg: One beaten egg will help crisp up the top of the sandwich for that classic fried texture.
- Dijon Mustard: Dijon mustard adds a slight tangy flavor to the crust, but you can leave it out if your not a fan.
- Powdered Sugar: Lightly dust powdered sugar on top of sliders. Feel free to leave it off, but I’m telling you it’s delicious with it!
- Raspberry Jam: Serve sliders with a dollop of raspberry or strawberry jam. You’ll thank me later.
How to make Monte Cristo
These Monte Cristo Sliders are perfect for parties and get-togethers. They can be served fresh from the oven or at room temperature. I love to serve them with good raspberry preserves. I hope you enjoy!
- Preheat oven to 350F and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish
- Slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls in half, to form two separate halves. Do not separate each roll individually.
- Place bottom half of rolls into prepared baking dish.
- Start by Layering sliced turkey, then ham, and top with swiss cheese.
- Place the top half of the Hawaiian rolls and lightly press.
- In a small mixing bowl whisk together melted butter, beaten egg, and Dijon mustard.

- Pour butter and egg mixture over top of the sliders and spread evenly.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes. Watch closely, if the tops start getting too brown, place a sheet of tinfoil over top of rolls.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar.
- Serve sliders warm or at room temperature with a side of raspberry jam. Enjoy!

What to serve with Monte Cristo Sliders
Classic Monte Cristo’s are served with a side of jam or marmalade for dipping and spreading, and these sliders deserve the same treatment. My favorite is red raspberry jam.
You can also serve these sliders with fries, or chips, or a simple green salad. Monte Cristo sandwiches can be served just about anytime and for any occasion. Their perfect for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner, and appetizers. They are a great way to use up leftover sandwich meat, and holiday turkey and ham.
