Ingredients to make homemade taco pizza

  • Crescent Rolls: I like to use refrigerated crescent rolls, feel free to use refrigerated pizza dough if you prefer.
  • Refried Beans: I prefer to use fat-free refried beans and warm them in the microwave before spreading on baked crescent dough.
  • Ground Beef: Ground beef or ground turkey are both good options here.
  • Taco Seasoning: You will only need one packet of taco seasoning for this recipe, or if you have a homemade taco seasoning that works great also.
  • Shredded Cheese: A blend of shredded Mexican cheese or shredded cheddar cheese works well.
  • Tomato: Chopped tomatoes are used as a topping for the pizza, add to the whole pizza or half depending on your family’s preference.
  • Lettuce: I used iceberg lettuce for my recipe, but feel free to use shredded romaine.

How to make this homemade taco pizza recipe

  • Preheat oven to 375F and lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  • Unroll both tubes of refrigerated crescent roll dough and lay it out on the prepared baking sheet. Pinch the perforations together to seal, and press dough until the whole baking sheet is covered with crescent dough.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on the bottom.
  • While the crescent rolls are baking, brown ground beef in a medium skillet until fully cooked. Add a packet of taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Place refried beans in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave until warm throughout.
  • Remove crescent roll crust from the oven and allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
  • Spread warm refried beans over crescent rolls.
  • Sprinkle ground beef mixture evenly over refried beans, and top with chopped tomatoes, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and any other toppings you like.
  • Cut into serving-size pieces and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Tips for making taco pizza

  • Taco pizza can be served warm or cold.
  • If you plan to make Taco Pizza ahead of time, I recommend waiting until just before serving before adding the lettuce, tomato, and cheese to prevent sogginess.
  • You can place taco pizza back in the oven for 4-5 minutes after you add the refried beans and taco meat. Remove from the oven and add your favorite toppings.
