This Restaurant Style Hot Cheesy Crab Dip is a creamy mixture of tasty crab meat, smooth cream cheese, flavorful green chilies and onions, zesty sour cream, creamy mayonnaise, melty cheese, and the perfect combination of spices for a dip that is sure to be a family favorite.

Crab Dip is at the top of the list of my favorite cheesy appetizers. This warm, creamy dip can be served with chips, crackers, or even sliced baguettes. It is served hot and is irresistible, especially when you see it come out of the oven with all of the bubbling, melty cheese on top. Be careful, though. This crab dip is so tasty that it will be gone before you know it!

Not only is this hot crab dip delicious, but it is also easy to make, making it a great option when you need a last-minute appetizer. I like to keep the ingredients on hand, just in case. The taste of the crab meat is the star of this recipe. The combination of spices really brings out the flavors. When I say that itโ€™s easy to make, I mean that it is as simple as mixing all of the ingredients together, putting them in the baking dish, topping them with cheese, and popping it in the oven!

  • Cream Cheese
  • Diced Green Chilies

How To Make Creamy Hot Crab Dip

  1. Preheat your oven to 350ยฐ. Prepare a 9 x 9 baking dish by spraying it with a non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, add crab meat, cream cheese, green chilies, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, black pepper, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, and ยฝ cup of cheddar cheese. Mix everything until well combined.
  3. Add mixture to the prepared baking dish and top with remaining cheddar cheese.
  4. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the cheese begins to bubble. Serve with sliced baguettes, chips, or crackers.

Popular Substitutions & Additions

  • Plain Greek Yogurt can be used in place of the sour cream. The measurements will be the same.
  • A cheese blend of your choice can be used instead of cheddar. If you want a little spice, try pepper jack cheese.
  • Balsamic vinegar can be used in place of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper for some extra spice.

How To Reheat & Store Easy Hot Crab Dip Recipe

This hot crab dip can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge if you have any leftovers. Once it has completely cooled, place it in an air-tight container and stick it in the fridge. It will last for up to 3 days.  To reheat, either warm it in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or microwave individual portions for 2 minutes, stirring halfway through.

You can also freeze your crab dip once it has completely cooled. Store it in a sealed, freezer-safe container. Completely thaw in the fridge, then bake as directed above to reheat frozen crab dip.

Can I use imitation crab in this dip?

Sure. I definitely think that real crab tastes better, but if you prefer imitation crab, feel free to use that instead.

If I canโ€™t find green chiles, can I use Rotel instead?

Sure, as long as you are okay with the added tomatoes, you can use drained Rotel with green chilies.

Can I make this crab dip in the crockpot?
